A momentous affair (working title: hard facts ) is a crime film by director Martin Enlen from 2007. In the lead role , Fritz Karl embodies the police commissioner Benno, whose secret lover Sabine ( Lisa Martinek ) is found murdered.

Munich Police Commissioner Benno has a secret lover who one day is found murdered. She was his superior's wife. Benno will be entrusted with the investigation into this murder, which would not happen if it was common knowledge that he of all people was her lover.

The body was found in her sister's apartment; who, as the police investigation turns out, has often rented out her apartment by the hour. At the scene of the crime, traces are found that point to Benno's father-in-law. The investigations take on ever larger dimensions, which change into almost chaotic conditions as the film progresses.
