Stefan Schulzki

Stefan Schulzki (* 1970 in Augsburg ) is a German composer.

Life

Stefan Schulzki studied piano at the State University for Music and Performing Arts in Heidelberg-Mannheim, then composition with Ulrich Leyendecker in Mannheim and film music and sound design at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy in Ludwigsburg. At the Mozarteum in Salzburg he completed a postgraduate course in composition with Adriana Hölszky . He has been a freelance composer since 2001.

As a composer for film and theater, he has already worked with many well-known directors, including Jarg Pataki , Roland Suso Richter , Stephan Rick , Thomas Schadt , Sigi Rothemund , Nikolaus Leytner , Iain Dilthey , Detlef Bothe , Cyrill Boss , Philipp Stennert , Anja Jacobs , Till Endemann , Jakob Ziemnicki , Lars Jessen , Winfried Oelsner, Martin Gies , Franziska Meyer-Price and Nico Zingelmann .

The American independent feature Looking Through Lillian was one of his first feature films . This was followed by work for the theater (including Deutsches Theater Berlin , the time and the room of Botho Strauss ). Since 2004 he has written the music for all episodes of the television film series Donna Leon .

Many of his films received prizes and awards, including a nomination for a student Oscar ("Kuscheldoktor", director: Anja Jacobs ).

Stefan Schulzki also works as a composer for concert music. As such he received the Gersthofer Kunstförderpreis in 1997. In 2000 he was invited to work with the Ensemble Modern as part of the Young Talent Forum of the Society for New Music Frankfurt . At the international festival The Diaghilev Seasons in Perm (Russia) 2003 he presented his piano works. In 2004 he received a composition commission for the inauguration of Federal President Horst Köhler . Since 2008 he has been a founding member and pianist of the composers' conspiracy . In 2009 he received the music grant from the City of Munich and in 2011 the award for the best film music at the Lünen Cinema Festival .

Schulzki teaches music theory at the Leopold Mozart Center of the University of Augsburg .
