Philipp Stennert (born August 25, 1975 in Göttingen ) is a German film director and screenwriter .

Life

Philipp Stennert began working on film projects with Jakob Ziemnicki during his school days at the Kreuzgasse grammar school . In 2004 he graduated from the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy in directing. Since 2000 he has been working with Cyrill Boss as a writer and director duo. In 2006 they shot their first movie Neues vom Wixxer .

In the spring of 2009, Boss and Stennert shot their second feature film, the action comedy Jerry Cotton . The film was produced by Christian Becker , with whom the two directors have worked together several times. In 2011, Boss and Stennert adapted the children's novel Das Haus der Krokodile by Helmut Ballot . Boss and Stennert received the Bavarian Film Prize in 2012 for Das Haus der Krokodile .

In 2013, Boss and Stennert staged the psychological thriller Beside the Track - Adrenalin for ZDF . The film is based on the novel of the same name by Australian bestselling author Michael Robotham and premiered at the Munich Film Festival in 2014 . In the following year, the directing duo adapted the second thriller in the series of novels entitled Beside the Trace - Amnesia .

Boss and Stennert directed the two-part ARD television film The Dasslers - Pioneers, Brothers and Rivals . The film, in which Christian Friedel , Hanno Koffler , Alina Levshin and Hannah Herzsprung play the main roles, tells the dramatic life story of the entrepreneurial brothers Rudolf Dassler and Adi Dassler , who became known worldwide with their rival sports shoe companies Puma and Adidas . The shooting took place in Prague. The Dasslers premiered in 2016 at the Munich Film Festival and was awarded the Bernd Burgemeister TV Prize.

Boss and Stennert were responsible as authors and directors for the eight-part thriller series Der Pass (2019) on the pay-TV channel Sky . In 2020 they were awarded the Adolf Grimme Prize and the German Television Prize for this. In the same year filming began for the second season.

Cyrill Boss and Philipp Stennert also work as advertising film directors.
