Christian Becker (born May 6, 1972 in Krefeld ) is a German film producer .

Life

After graduating from high school in Horkesgath in Krefeld, Becker gained experience as a recording and production manager for films such as Farinelli , Berlin Break , Rudi Rüssel , the racing pig and Die Sieger . In January 1995 Becker founded Vide Filmproduktion GbR, with which he produced over 15 short films, commercials and numerous documentaries during his studies at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF).

From 1997 to 2001 he worked together with Thomas Häberle on the companies Indigo Filmproduktion and Becker & Häberle Filmproduktion , which they then brought to the new market in 2000 under FAME AG. During this time Becker produced award-winning and successful debut films by his HFF classmates Peter Thorwarth ( Bang Boom Bang ), Dennis Gansel ( Das Phantom ) and Sebastian Niemann ( Biikenbrennen - The Curse of the Sea ).

In 2002 Christian Becker then founded Rat Pack Filmproduktion and Westside Filmproduktion , with which he produced some of the most successful German films such as Wickie und die stark Männer , Die Welle , Der Wixxer , Hui Buh - Das Schlossgespenst or Fack ju Göhte .

A year later he and Phil Friederichs founded the Turbine Medien DVD label , originally only to bring all Dieter Hallervorden and Kalkofe DVDs onto the market for the first time.

2010–2011 he produced the first German-language 3D feature film Wickie auf Großer Fahrt under the direction of Christian Ditter , with whom he already realized the successful children's film series Vorstadtkrokodile and Ditter's debut French for beginners .

In 2015 Christian Becker's Rat Pack Filmproduktion produced a Winnetou three-part series together with RTL and Rialto Film in Croatia and North Rhine-Westphalia , which was broadcast for Christmas 2016.

In 2018, together with Willi Geike from Warner Bros. Germany, he brought Jim Knopf and Lukas der Lokomotivführer (director: Dennis Gansel ) based on the novel by Michael Ende into the cinemas as the most expensive German-language production of all time.

In 2019 Christian Becker was honored with the Bernd Eichinger Prize as part of the German Film Prize for his outstanding production work.
