Bernd Eichinger Prize

The Bernd Eichinger Prize is an undoped film prize that has been awarded since 2012 as part of the presentation of the German Film Prize . The award was donated by the German Film Academy in memory of the German film producer Bernd Eichinger, who died in 2011 .
The award will be given to individuals or film teams who, in the sense of Eichinger, have made a significant contribution to cinema culture through artistic passion, community spirit, originality and assertiveness. The winners receive the Lola statuette in gold, which is regularly awarded at the German Film Prize. The Bernd Eichinger Prize can, but does not have to be, awarded every year.
Selection process
The prize is awarded by a jury made up of seven or nine people. The jury members are appointed by the board of directors and the management of the Deutsche Filmakademie e. V. together with Eichinger's widow Katja and his daughter Nina , including at least one member of the board of the German Film Academy.
The jury meets once or twice a year, whereby the awardee's work should have been performed in recent years. The Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media can submit proposals to the jury for awarding the award.
