action

Hans A. Pospiech lives in a small town in Upper Bavaria called Neufurth. He is a passionate cinematographer , amateur filmmaker and member of the local film club. Pospiech lives, separated from his wife and just tolerated in her house, in the garage, where he runs his own film company called “Pospiech Productions”, which does not make any profit. The highly indebted Pospiech keeps afloat financially by selling World War II memorabilia from his father's legacy to solvent collectors. Pospiech is deeply hostile to Mr. Nagy, a fellow member of the film club; the two vie for the title of greatest film expert. At the initiative of the local bank director Faltermeier, the bank is offering a culture prize of 30,000 euros, which is to be awarded for the best film contribution by a regional filmmaker. With the support of his nephew Alfons as cameraman and sound engineer, Pospiech gets to work. He has set himself the goal of making an artistically demanding film about the private life and “the human side” of Adolf Hitler . The casting of the actors and production preparations turn out due to the lack of funds to be extremely difficult. In his cinematic passion, however, Pospiech overcomes all hurdles. Only with a lot of persuasion does he manage to win over the local music dealer Fleischbauer for the lead role and keep it going while filming. The older innkeeper Grete is hired as Eva Braun , while her Indian cook, Mr. Suk, takes on the role of Joseph Goebbels . Other friends and acquaintances mime other Nazi greats. The casting of a German shepherd as Blondi fails. Is rotated u. a. in a local café and, above all, in Pospiech's garage, which can be redecorated as a Berghof or Führerbunker as required . Mr. Nagy tries unsuccessfully to thwart Pospiech's project and the awarding of the award to him, u. a. by reporting him as a "Nazi filmmaker". In the end, Pospiech succeeds in completing his film and snatching the coveted prize that will save him from his financial misery. A premiere party will take place in the film club with great sympathy from the local public and media. At the very end the viewer experiences an unexpected jump in time. Because this premiere celebration already applies to the next major film project by Pospiech. He brought the life of Jesus Christ to the canvas with a story that was brought into the present and with his nephew Alfons in the lead role.

Reviews

“His new film, 'Und Äktschn!', Which premiered on Tuesday evening at the Gartenbaukino in Vienna (and will be released in German cinemas on February 6th), is an exhausting opus. A collector's item for film buffs and nostalgics. Anyone who has never been able to do much with Polt will not be able to do it now either. "
