Michael Ostrowski , actually Michael Stockinger (born January 3, 1973 in Leoben ), is an Austrian actor , screenwriter and presenter .

Life

Michael Ostrowski grew up in Rottenmann in Styria. From 1991 he studied English and French in Graz , Oxford and New York and also has some knowledge of Italian and Spanish. He got into acting by chance during his studies when he came into contact with Ed Hauswirth from the experimental Graz theater group Theater im Bahnhof . He lived in Lend for a few years and made his first appearances there in 1993. In 2002 he won the Nestroy Theater Prize with them for the best off-production.

He took on his first film role in 2001 in a short film project by Barbara Albert . At that time he changed his surname from "Stockinger" to "Ostrowski" because there is another actor and cabaret artist with the same name. He got his first film role in 2002 in Nogo, in which he played one of the main actors as "Sam". The most successful and well-known film in which he participated was the comedy Nudibranch from 2004, the screenplay of which he wrote in the late 1990s. This film was directed by Michael Glawogger , through whom he “really learned film acting”. Ostrowski found the collaboration with Glawogger, whom he described as “an incredibly 'technically' or cinematic and dramaturgically thinking person”, to be “very lucky”, because he “learned his reduced, cinematic view of acting . “Ostrowski continues to play theater, for example at the Graz Schauspielhaus and the Wiener Kammerspiele . As a co-author of the screenplay for the feature film The Unintentional Abduction of Ms. Elfriede Ott (2010), in which he also played the leading role, he was awarded the Austrian Film Prize in 2011 .

Ostrowski has been a regular moderator of various events since the 1990s. Among other things, he moderated the “Krone Football Gala” and the 2003 Nestroy Theater Prize . In 2008, 2009 and 2010 he led through the Amadeus Music Award program . Together with Pia Hierzegger , he has moderated the satirical talk show Democracy - The Show on Puls 4 since 2012 , and since 2014 the FM4 protest song contest in the Rabenhof Theater .

He made his directorial debut with the feature film Hotel Rock'n'Roll , the third part of the "Sex, Drugs & Rock'n'Roll" trilogy by Michael Glawogger, who died in 2014 .

Ostrowski is in a relationship with actress Hilde Dalik in 2019 and has four children.
