action

Mao inherits a shabby, indebted hotel in the country from her uncle Waberl. Together with her friends, the hobby rock stars Max and Jerry, she tries to bring the hotel back to life and to offer an all inclusive sex, drugs & rock'n'roll experience package with "supervised intoxication trips" . Among other things, they have to assert themselves against the competition and have to struggle with their own inability. For example, after a bank robbery, Schorsch ends up with his getaway car in the pond of the hotel and Schorschi's former partner Harry, owner of the nearby Alzheimer Alpine inn , is planning a hostile takeover. In order to pay off the loan debts inherited from the hotel, Max (vocals), Mao (bass), Jerry (guitar) and Schorsch (drums) organize a concert in which they present the only song they have in their repertoire in different versions, Futschikato .

criticism

"'Hotel Rock'n'Roll' mutates into a turbulent requiem, the survivors are condemned to eternal puberty, which excludes any pathos."

- Peter Angerer : Tyrolean daily newspaper

“After 'Contact High' already had some surreal scenes to offer compared to the relatively realistic 'nudibranch', the surreal elements here are taken to the maximum and represent one of the greatest strengths of the film. Whether a tarantinoesque intro, a band under water or a homemade kebab spread: the team of authors (apart from Ostrowski and Köpping, parts of Glawogger were also written) were able to develop their full creativity. "

- Christian Pogatetz : uncut.at

"It has become an insane mix of boulevard pieces characterized by mix-ups, the (apparently) idyllic ambience of a home film and live elements of a music film [...] a life-affirming, insane, light summer comedy marked by a lust for play, which Glawogger would certainly have enjoyed."
