Frauenberg - also called Frauenberg-Maria Rehkogel after the local pilgrimage church - is a place in the political district of Bruck-Mürzzuschlag in Styria and in the judicial district of Bruck an der Mur . Until December 31, 2014 Frauenberg was an independent municipality with 147 inhabitants (as of October 31, 2013).

Frauenberg is located at an altitude of 941 m in the Austrian state of Styria in the Mürz Valley near Bruck an der Mur . The highest point is the Rennfeld (1,630 m).

history
In 1354 a pilgrimage chapel was built at the site of a statue of the Virgin Mary. In 1489, a late Gothic church was built in place of the chapel, which was redesigned in 1769 in Baroque style. In 1775 the church received an organ from the famous organ builder Anton Römer .
On January 1, 2015, the previously independent municipality of Frauenberg was incorporated into the municipality of St. Marein in the Mürz Valley as part of the municipal structural reform in Styria .
politics
The last mayor was Franz Meisenbichler ( ÖVP ) until the end of 2014 . Vice Mayor was Josef Seitinger (ÖVP). The municipal council consisted of six members from the ÖVP and three from the SPÖ .
coat of arms
The municipal
coat of arms was awarded with effect from October 1, 2000. Description of the coat of arms: "In a blue shield sprinkled with seven golden lilies on a golden hill, an adoring golden roebuck under a golden shield head with gold-contoured blue diamond-shaped Gothic vaulted ribs."
