coat of arms
With effect from July 25, 1968, the Styrian state government granted the market town of St. Marein im Mürz Valley the right to use a municipal coat of arms. Due to the amalgamation of the municipalities, the coat of arms lost its official validity on January 1st, 2015.
The re-award took place with effect from November 1, 2015.
The new blazon is:
- "In a shield divided by green and gold diagonally to the left, a silver lily above and a blue saw blade positioned to the left below."
The coat of arms initially refers to the community name, so it is a talking coat of arms: The silver coat of arms lily is the symbol of the Virgin Mary, which other places with Marienkirchen also have, e.g. B. St. Marein am Pickelbach and Fernitz with its Mariatrost pilgrimage church. In the present case, a design that differs from the other lily coats of arms was chosen. The silver lily in the green upper shield field also refers to the Styrian national colors, thus designating the municipality as a Styrian one. The saw blade clearly denotes the municipality's sawmills and the wood industry in general. The lower shield field is golden to indicate the source of income for the community.
