Graschnitz is a village and a cadastral municipality in the municipality of Sankt Marein in the Mürz Valley in the Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district in Styria .

Graschnitz Castle, located in the northwest of the town, was built in the 16th century and has been redesigned several times since then. It received its present form in the second half of the 19th century. The Graschnitz Castle Riding Club is housed in the farm buildings. The castle itself is a listed building ( list entry ).

Settlement development

At the turn of the year 1979/1980 there were a total of 19 building areas with 18,292 m² and 30 gardens on 57,921 m² in the cadastral community of Graschnitz , in 1989/1990 there were 15 building areas. In 1999/2000 the number of building areas had grown to 111 and in 2009/2010 there were 34 buildings on 106 building areas.

Land use

The cadastral community is characterized by agriculture. 49 hectares were used for agriculture at the turn of the year 1979/1980 and 8 hectares were forest areas. In 1999/2000 agriculture was carried out on 15 hectares and 19 hectares were designated as areas used for forestry. At the end of 2018, 10 hectares were used as agricultural land and forestry was carried out on 15 hectares. The average soil climate of Graschnitz is 35 (as of 2010).
