Stanz im Mürzzuschlag is a municipality with 1855 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Austrian state of Styria ( judicial district Mürzzuschlag and in the political district Bruck-Mürzzuschlag ).

geography

Geographical location

Punching in Mürztal is located in Stanztal , a tributary of the Mürztals south of the municipality of Kindberg . The Stanzbach, which runs through the municipal area, flows into the Mürz , a north-eastern tributary of the Mur in the Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district in northeast Styria . Stanz in the Mürz Valley can be reached via the L114 state road, which branches off to the west from the closest exit “Kindbergdörfl” of the Semmering expressway S6 and leads in the east towards Fischbach over the Schanzsattel .

history

In 1150, Stanz was first mentioned as "Stawencz" in the documents. In the 14th century, Stanz came into the possession of the Stubenberger. Around 1836 the hammer works in Stanz had great economic importance. In 1848 the peasant class was liberated. The local community as an autonomous body was established in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to the Reichsgau Steiermark, 1945 to 1955 it was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria. The paramount importance of agriculture and forestry operations until around 1960 has declined and there are increasing numbers of commuters.

Blazon (coat of arms description): In a shield split by red and silver, color-confused in silver and black, a pile of three ostrich feathers growing out of two arms of an anchor.
