Johann Seitinger , also Hans Seitinger , (born January 25, 1961 ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). Seitinger has been the regional councilor for agriculture and forestry in the Styrian regional government since 2003 .

Education, work and family

Seitinger attended the elementary school in Frauenberg from 1967 to 1971 and the secondary school in Kapfenberg from 1971 to 1975. He then graduated from the Federal Trade School and Agricultural Trade School Grottenhof-Hardt in Thal near Graz from 1975 to 1979 before serving in the army from 1979 to 1980. Seitinger worked as a foreman in agriculture from 1985 and passed the fire department chief and commander examination in 1986. Seitinger has also been a sworn expert in general since 1990.

Seitinger worked from 1980 to 2003 as a consultant and speaker in the Styrian Chamber of Agriculture. From 1989 to 2003 he was managing director of the cooperative and the trading company Steirischer Schafzuchtverband. In 1997 he took over the position of board member of the Oberlandhalle cooperative. Since 2003 Seitinger has also acted as managing director of the animal breeding and event center in Upper Styria.

Johann Seitinger is married and has two children.

Seitinger gained his first political experience as chairman of the rural youth. He was also on the district council of rural youth for four years and chairman of the farmers' union for four years. In his home community of Frauenberg , Seitinger held the office of ÖVP local party chairman from 1999 to 2003. He was municipal councilor for seven years, vice mayor for five years, and then from 1999 to 2003 he was mayor. At the district level, Seitinger has been a member of the district board of the farmers' union since 1990 and a member of the ÖVP district party board since 1999. In 2006 he was elected district party chairman of the Styrian People's Party in Bruck an der Mur; an office that he has held for the new Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district party since 2013 .

Seitinger was a member of the State Farmers Union Board between 2000 and 2005 and in 2003 took over the office of chairman of rural development in Styria. Since 2005 he has also been deputy chairman of the Styrian farmers' union and since 2007 president of the "Pferd Austria Club Steiermark" association.

In 2013 he was elected chairman of the Styrian farmers' union.

Provincial Council

In 2003 he was elected to the Styrian regional government , where he is responsible for agriculture and forestry, water management, housing, veterinary, waste management, sustainable initiatives, landscape schools, state forests and agricultural testing and research. At the constituent sessions of the state parliaments after the state elections in 2005 and 2010 , he was re-elected as state councilor. After the state elections in Styria in 2015 , he also got the agricultural school system and housing.

Awards

At the New Year's reception on January 13, 2017 in the auditorium of the Old University in Graz, he received the Great Silver Medal of Honor with the star of the Styrian Fire Brigade Association.
