List of the provincial governments of Styria
The list of provincial governments of Styria lists all provincial governments of the second largest Austrian federal state, Styria . The first was formed after the monarchy in 1918.
The first governor was the conservative Wilhelm Kaan from the then Greater German People's Party (GDVP), the longest serving governor was Josef Krainer senior from the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP), who held this office from July 6, 1948 to November 28, 1971.
The party that most frequently provided the governor is the ÖVP (15 times) including its predecessors (GDVP, once, and the Christian Social Party , five times). The Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ) was the party with the largest number of votes in the state parliament in 1945 and again since 2005 and provided Franz Voves as the governor from 2005 to 2015, while in 2015 it renounced this office. The Fatherland Front provided the governor twice .

Anton Rintelen became the second governor of Styria in 1919 and initially held this office for seven years. He was part of the conservative Christian Social Party, which provided the Styrian regional chief from 1919 to 1934. Its successor party, the ÖVP, was the dominant party in Styria after the Second World War until 2005. | ||||||

Josef Krainer senior took over the post of governor from the sick Anton Pirchegger in 1948. He held this office until 1971, making him the longest serving governor of Styria at the age of 23. He was also instrumental in the dominance of the ÖVP, which was only ended by the SPÖ in 2005. | ||||||
