Anton Regner

Anton Regner (born December 14, 1873 in Vienna , † January 21, 1945 in Knittelfeld ) was an Austrian workers secretary and politician ( SDAP ). Regner was a member of the National Council between 1919 and 1920 and a member of the Styrian state government from 1928 to 1934 .

Regner attended the elementary and community school and then learned the trade of iron turner. Subsequently he worked as a workers secretary in Knittelfeld. Regner began his political career as chairman of the welfare committee in Knittelfeld and was elected deputy mayor of the municipality. Regner represented the Social Democratic Labor Party as a member of the Styrian state parliament and was a member of the National Council from March 4, 1919 to November 9, 1920. On November 22, 1928, Regner was elected to succeed Hans Resel in the Rintelen I state government in Styria . He also belonged to the successor governments Rintelen II and Dienstleder . After the outbreak of the Austrian civil war, Regner was removed from office on February 12, 1934 and was punished with eight days of political arrest for inducing rioting.

His great-granddaughter Evelyn Regner is a politician and a member of the European Parliament ( SPÖ ).
