Helmut Heidinger

Helmut Heidinger (born October 25, 1922 in Graz ; † January 12, 2004 in Leibnitz ) was an Austrian bank manager and politician ( ÖVP ). From 1983 to 1988 he was the regional councilor for economy and transport in the Styrian regional government .

Life

Heidinger grew up in Graz and graduated from high school in 1940. He then did military service as a mountain hunter . After returning home from captivity, he studied economics at the Karl-Franzens University in Graz and received his doctorate in political science in 1954. He then began a career in banking. From 1975 to 1981 he was General Director and from 1981 to 1983 President of Steiermärkische Sparkasse .

From 1966 to 1983 he represented the Styrian People's Party in the state parliament, whose third president he was in 1969/70. From 1983 until his resignation from the state government in 1988 he supervised a. a. the business, transport, tourism and railways units. His successor in the state government was Waltraud Klasnic .

Heidinger, a sideline winemaker in Leibnitz, was married and the father of four children. In his Styrian homeland he was a leader in the Alpine Club and in the Protestant Church .
