Reinhold Purr

Reinhold Purr (born September 14, 1937 in Groß Sankt Florian ; † February 2, 2018 ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). From November 2000 to October 2005 he was President of the Landtag of Styria.

Life

Reinhold Purr attended elementary and secondary school and then graduated from the commercial academy in Graz . From 1958 to 1967 he worked as a textile merchant in the family business in Groß Sankt Florian, in 1968 he took over the textile business. He was also employed as a vocational school teacher for goods science .

From 1976 Purr was district chairman of the ÖVP economic association Deutschlandsberg and from 1983 main district party chairman. From 1981 to 2005 he sat as MP for the People's Party in the parliament of Styria , from 1993 he was deputy club chairman of the ÖVP parliamentary clubs. From 2000 to 2005 he held the position of President of the State Parliament.

Purr was also chairman of the operating association of the Styrian Fire Brigade Museum in his home town.

Purr received the Knight's Cross in 2002 and the Commander of the Order for Merit of the Republic of Italy in 2008 and has since carried the title of Commendatore .

He died on February 2, 2018 after a short period of serious illness with his family at the age of 81.
