Lindi Kálnoky (born November 2, 1935 in Duivelskloof , Transvaal ) is an Austrian scientist and politician ( ÖVP ).

biography

Born as the daughter of German farmers in South Africa, she grew up in Westphalia after her father's death and studied biology and pharmacognosy at the universities of Münster and Graz , where she received her doctorate in 1961. She worked at the LKH Graz and later in medical technology research at AVL List . She came to the Styrian People's Party via the “Styrian Model” working group , which she represented in the Federal Council in 1982/83 and in the Styrian Landtag from 1983 to 1991 . Between 1988 and 1991 Kàlnoky was the third president of the state parliament.

Her political priorities were in the area of ​​health policy, among other things the establishment of the Fonds Gesundes Österreich is largely based on her initiative. Between 1999 and 2009 she was Vice President of the Austrian Red Cross . In 2004 she was awarded the Great Golden Decoration of Honor of the State of Styria with the star , the highest Styrian order, for her services .

Lindi Kálknoky is married and has six daughters.
