SAP Business Objects Analysis

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

SAP BusinessObjects Analysis is a Business Intelligence - OLAP client of the firm SAP SE . The tool is provided in two versions. The MS Excel edition of the tool extends MS Excel to include OLAP analysis options. In addition, a web edition is made available with which you can work independently of the platform.

target group

Business analysts and “information consumers” are typical target groups . Business analysts create workbooks and carry out multidimensional OLAP analyzes. Information consumers consider these, but can also make a few changes. In particular, internal accounting (controlling) can use a BI infrastructure in a simple manner. However, the software is unsuitable for decision-makers and managers. Typical products such as BusinessObjects Crystal Reports or Xcelsius are more suitable here.

History of origin

After the takeover of Business Objects by SAP AG, the original BusinessObjects Voyager client was combined with the SAP BEx Analyzer in the “Pioneer” project. Pioneer ultimately resulted in SAP BusinessObjects Analysis. The further development of the BEx Analyzer, however, has been discontinued. SAP BusinessObjects Analysis is now its replacement.

Functionality and scope

The process of analysis starts with the design of a workbook. In the MS Excel edition of Analysis there is the design area on the right side of the screen. This can be used to add dimensions or fact tables to the workbook to create a crosstab . The table created can then be analyzed using various functions provided. Analysis provides functions such as B. Conditional Formatting, hierarchies and filter options are available.
