The state government Schützenhöfer I is the Styrian state government elected by the state parliament after the state elections in Styria 2015 on June 16, 2015, under the programmatic name “Coalition Future Styria” . It is a coalition government made up of the SPÖ and ÖVP .

Originally the SPÖ under Franz Voves claimed the seat of the governor because the SPÖ Styria received around 1 percent more votes than the ÖVP. On June 10, 2015 , Voves resigned from all political functions following his announcement that he would step down if the election result was below 30 percent. The coalition negotiations with the ÖVP that took place after the system of proportional representation was abolished surprisingly revealed that the previous deputy governor Hermann Schützenhöfer (ÖVP) should lead the state government as the new governor from 2015 to 2020.

In the SPÖ, the renunciation of the post of governor as a stronger coalition participant at federal and state level was criticized. The opposition parties FPÖ, Greens and KPÖ also rated the continuation of the existing government cooperation negatively despite electoral losses. The reason given for the SPÖ's renouncing the position of governor was the risk of losing influence entirely through an ÖVP-FPÖ coalition.

After the announcement of Christian Buchmann's resignation from the regional council on April 25, 2017, the departments were redistributed, Christopher Drexler handed over the science department to Barbara Eibinger-Miedl and took over the cultural department.

On July 4, 2017, District Councilor Michael Schickhofer transferred the financial agenda to District Councilor Anton Lang.
