The state government Josef Krainer junior IV was appointed by the Styrian state parliament on October 18, 1991 after the state elections in Styria in 1991 . Josef Krainer junior's state government lasted until January 23, 1996, after which he resigned after losing votes in the state elections in Styria in 1995 and Waltraud Klasnic took over the office. According to the proportional system, four mandates each were awarded to the ÖVP and SPÖ , and one mandate to the FPÖ .
