State election in Styria 1991
On September 22, 1991 state elections were held in Styria .
The ÖVP remained the strongest party despite a strong loss of votes and continued to provide the governor with Josef Krainer junior .
The ÖVP only achieved 44.2% (26 seats) and thus lost its absolute majority, while the SPÖ gained 34.9% of the votes and thus 20 seats. The FPÖ was the big winner of the election and was able to more than triple its share of the vote to 15.4% (9 seats).
The Green Alternative - Green in parliament reached only 2.88%, which missed a place in the state legislature. The second green list, green and white - right to survive - preserve nature with 1.73%, also failed to gain state parliament mandates.
The KPÖ failed to make it into the state parliament once again with 0.60%, and the list of seed oil - green oil (only in the constituency of Graz and the surrounding area) , which was entered for the second time, could not achieve any large profits with 0.18%, not even that newly occurred Active home - Socialists (only in the constituency of upper Styria) with 0.07%.
