On March 10, 1957, state elections were held in Styria .

The ÖVP celebrated a landslide victory and achieved half of the seats in the state parliament. The SPÖ was also able to grow, but lagged behind the ÖVP.

The ÖVP received 46.4% of the votes (24 seats), the SPÖ received 43.6% of the votes (21 seats). The FPÖ , which took the place of the WDU for the first time , lost massively and only got 6.8% of the votes (3 seats). For the first time since 1945, the KPÖ failed to make it into the state parliament with 2.6%.

Two new parties stood in the state elections: The Free Styrian electoral community of the non-party could not win a mandate with 0.43%, just like the EPÖ., Which only stood in Graz and achieved 0.17% of the votes.
