Barbara Eibinger-Miedl (born January 30, 1980 in Graz ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and has been State Councilor in Styria since April 25, 2017. From 2006 to 2010 she was a member of the Austrian Federal Council . From 2010 she was a member of the Styrian Landtag and from March 11, 2014 club chairwoman of the Styrian People's Party in the Styrian Landtag. On April 18, 2017 it was announced that Eibinger-Miedl will take over the office of the resigning State Councilor Christian Buchmann .

education and profession

After attending elementary school in her home town of Seiersberg , Barbara Eibinger-Miedl switched to the Graz grammar school BG / BRG Oeverseegasse. In 1994 she continued her training at the Grazbachgasse Commercial Academy , which she graduated with the Matura in 1999 . From 1999 to 2005 studied Eibinger-Miedl at the University of Graz in both law and business administration . She completed both courses with a master's degree .

After her internship at the Graz Higher Regional Court, Eibinger-Miedl initially worked as a management assistant at the Styrian Start-up Center. From 2006 she worked as a project manager at the Study and Technology Transfer Center in Weiz until she moved to her parents' group of companies, Eibinger, in 2011.

Political offices

Her political career began in 2004 when she became the local leader of the Austrian women's movement , a sub-organization of the ÖVP, in her home town of Seiersberg. In the same year she was elected deputy chairwoman of the Austrian Economic Association in the Graz-Umgebung district. From 2004 to 2010 she was the chairman of the young economy in Graz-Umgebung. Between 2006 and 2011 she was also deputy state chairman of the Styrian Young Economy.

From 2006 to 2010 Eibinger-Miedl was a member of the Seiersberg municipal council. In the same year she was elected deputy district leader of the women's movement. In October 2006 she moved into the Federal Council for the ÖVP . From April 2008 she was its secretary , from 2010 chairwoman of the Committee for European and Foreign Affairs until she moved to the Landtag of Styria at the end of this year.

From 2011, Eibinger-Miedl volunteered for the Europazentrum Europahaus Graz, of which she was chairman until March 2016. Within the framework of projects and events, young people as well as adults are taught European political education. In addition, she has been working for Frau in Wirtschaft since 2011.

Eibinger-Miedl's work focuses on the constitution, economy, Europe and foreign relations. She was also active in the Federal Council's Equal Treatment Committee.

On April 25, 2017, she was sworn in to succeed Christian Buchmann as state councilor; in the state government of Schützenhöfer I , she is responsible for business, tourism, Europe, science and research. Karl Lackner succeeded her as head of the ÖVP club .

On July 1, 2017, she was elected federal representative of the ÖVP.

Barbara Eibinger-Miedl has been married since May 2015 and has been the mother of a daughter since November 2016.
