Karl Lackner (born September 23, 1954 ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer . Lackner was mayor of Donnersbach and from October 2005 to January 2019 a member of the Styrian state parliament .

education and profession

Lackner attended secondary school in Irdning after primary school in Donnersbach and then graduated from the Grabnerhof agricultural school . Lackner is professionally active as a farmer.

politics

Lackner was elected to the Donnersbach local council in 1980 and took over the office of vice mayor on April 22, 1987. He was elected mayor on May 30, 1994. Lackner also holds the office of district chairman of the Styrian Association of Municipalities , is district chairman and regional chairman of the local government association and supervisory board of Raiffeisenbank Öblarn. Within the party, Lackner has been the ÖVP district party leader of Gröbming and local party leader of the ÖVP-Donnersbach since 2004 . He is also the managing director of the business operations of the municipality of Donnersbach. Lackner represented the ÖVP in the Styrian state parliament from October 25, 2005 and was area spokesman for emergency organizations and disaster control.

In 2017 he succeeded Barbara Eibinger-Miedl as club chairman of the Styrian People's Party in the Styrian Landtag. At the end of 2018, he handed over the chairmanship of the club to Barbara Riener , and Armin Forstner took over his state parliament mandate on January 15, 2019 .

Private

Lackner lives in Erlsberg (Donnersbach municipality) and is married. He is the father of four children.
