Armin Forstner (born February 27, 1971 in Rottenmann ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and police officer. Forstner was a member of the Austrian Federal Council from 2015 to January 2019 , and has been a member of the Styrian Landtag since January 2019 .

education and profession

Armin Forstner was born on February 27, 1971 in the town of Rottenmann in Upper Styria . He attended elementary and secondary school in Weißenbach an der Enns and the vocational school in Mureck , where he learned the trade of a locksmith . He also attended the technical college for mechanical engineering in Waidhofen an der Ybbs and finally passed the professional maturity test at the BFI Liezen and the HTL Zeltweg. Forstner joined the police force and from 2013 to 2015 completed the university course for parliamentarism and state politics with the academic title MPA at the University of Graz . He is currently on leave as a federal civil servant in the service of the Federal Ministry of the Interior .

Political career

In 2005, Forstner was elected as community chairman of the ÖAAB in his home town of Sankt Gallen . In 2006 he became community party chairman of the ÖVP Sankt Gallen, in 2008 a member of the district party committee of the ÖVP in the Liezen district . Armin Forstner has been mayor of the municipality of Sankt Gallen since the municipal council election in 2010 .

Following the state elections in Styria in 2015 , Armin Forstner was sent by the newly elected Styrian Landtag to the Austrian Federal Council on June 16, 2015 and is vice-president of the Styrian Civil Protection Association.

On January 15, 2019, he moved to the Landtag of Styria for Karl Lackner , and Ernest Schwindsackl took over his Federal Council mandate .
