Matthias Pokorn

Matthias Pokorn (born May 12, 1992 in Graz ) is an Austrian politician of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) and a doctor. Since April 2018 he has been the 1st Vice Mayor of the market town of Premstätten , and since January 21, 2020 he has been a member of the Styrian Landtag .

Life

From 1998 Matthias Pokorn attended the elementary school Unterpremstätten and from 2002 the Bundesrealgymnasium Pestalozzi Graz, where he graduated in 2010 . In 2011, he began a study of human medicine at the Medical University of Graz , in October 2017 received his doctorate he there to MD . From July 2014 to March 2017, there were clinical traineeships at various clinics and accident hospitals in Styria, the practical year with the Elisabethinen, at the AUVA accident hospital, at the Passau Clinic and with a family doctor. politics

After the municipal council election in 2015, Pokorn became a councilor in the market town of Premstätten, where he also became chairman in May 2015 and honorary chairman in May 2018 of the Young People's Party (JVP), which he co-founded . In January 2016 he became organizational officer of the JVP Styria and deputy JVP district chairman of Graz-Umgebung, and in February 2017 he became district chairman of the Young People's Party Graz-Umgebung. Since June 2017 he has been the deputy district chairman of the ÖVP Graz-Umgebung, since March 2018 local party chairman of the ÖVP Premstätten and since April 2018 first vice mayor of the municipality of Premstätten. In October 2019 he became Deputy Chairman of the JVP Styria.

In the 2019 state elections , he ran for 27th place on the state list and seventh in state electoral district 1 (Graz and the surrounding area). On January 21, 2020 he was in the second meeting of the XVIII. Legislative term as Member of the state parliament of Styria sworn in . He succeeded an ÖVP government member in the Schützenhöfer II state government formed in December 2019 . In the ÖVP state parliament club, he acts as the area spokesman for health. Other focal points are public transport, the expansion of the broadband infrastructure and the rail network, as well as increasing the frequency of public transport.
