Hubert Lang (born September 10, 1964 in Vorau ) is an Austrian politician of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP). He has been a member of the Styrian State Parliament since 2010 .

politics

Lang made his entry into politics in 1997 through his membership in the local farmers' council. Just two years later he was elected its chairman. This also means that he in 2000 led council of Pöllauberg was chosen.

In 2006, Lang took over the position of chairman of the local ÖVP. In 2007 he was elected Vice Mayor of Pöllauberg. On May 31, 2013, he resigned from his position as Vice Mayor in the course of the discussions about the Styrian community structural reform after there was fierce opposition in his home community - 83.24 percent of the Pöllaubergers voted against a merger with the other five communities in the valley in the referendum - had given. “You have to set a focus for your own work; as a member of parliament, I am responsible for the district, ”he justified his withdrawal from the community.

In 2010 he became deputy chairman of the farmers in the Hartberg district. On February 17, 2011, Lang was elected deputy chairman of the Hartberg district with 95 percent approval.

On October 21, 2010, Lang was sworn in as a member of the Styrian state parliament. There he is the ÖVP's spokesman for rural development and is active in the agricultural policy, agriculture and forestry, environment and transport committees and in control.

Lang is also a board member in the EU regional management for Eastern Styria .

education and profession

Lang attended the elementary school in Winzendorf , the secondary school in Pöllau and the polytechnic school in Pöllau. From 1980 to 1983 he completed an apprenticeship as a retail salesman . He practiced this profession until 1995.

Lang has been a self-employed farmer since 1995 . He runs a 3.9 hectare fruit growing business on a full-time basis. He markets his products himself - apples , apricots , peaches , plums and pears , including the regional specialty deer pear - himself.

Private

Hubert Lang lives in Oberneuberg, a town in the Pöllauberg community . He is married and has three children (* 1987, 1989 and 1996).
