Bernadette Kerschler (born May 25, 1974 in Wagna ) is an Austrian politician of the SPÖ . She was sworn in as a member of the Styrian state parliament on June 16, 2015 . In the state parliament, she is the SPÖ's economic spokesperson.

Political career

Until the dissolution of the independent municipality Kaindorf an der Sulm on December 31, 2014, Kerschler was active in the Kaindorf municipal council as a parliamentary group spokeswoman for the SPÖ in the committees for education, social affairs, culture and sport.

On April 9, 2015, Kerschler was elected by the delegates of the constituency of West Styria as the successor to Detlef Gruber for the 2015 state elections in second place behind Karl Petinger .

Despite the poor performance of the SPÖ in the state elections in 2015 , Kerschler made it into the state parliament with a direct mandate. Kerschler was sworn in as a MP on June 16, 2015. In the state parliament, Kerschler mainly wants to deal with the issues of education , family and social affairs and the economy .

education and profession

Kerschler completed a degree in economics at the University of Graz and completed this successfully as a Magistra with a diploma thesis at the Institute for Public Finance .

Professionally, Kerschler works at the Center for Training Management Steiermark GmbH in the Leibnitz / Radkersburg regional office as an educational advisor and trainer.

Private

Bernadette Kerschler is married to Dietmar Piskar-Kerschler, who is also politically active and until December 31, 2014 was the municipal treasurer of Kaindorf an der Sulm. She is the mother of two children.
