Helga Kügerl
Helga Kügerl (* 1957 in Deutschlandsberg ) is an Austrian politician of the FPÖ . On June 16, 2015, she was sworn in as a member of the Styrian state parliament , of which she was a member until December 17, 2019. Since April 7, 2020 she has been a member again.
Political career
Kügerl has been active in community politics since 2000. From 2000 to 2010 as a councilor and from 2010 to the end of 2014 as deputy mayor in the former community of Gressenberg . At the end of 2014 she lost this office due to the amalgamation of the municipalities with Schwanberg .
On December 10, 2014, Kügerl was elected district party leader of the FPÖ-Deutschlandsberg at an extraordinary party congress.
On April 3, 2015, Kügerl was presented by the FPÖ as the top candidate for constituency 3 (West and South Styria) for the 2015 state elections .
After the FPÖ became the party with the strongest vote in the state elections in the Deutschlandsberg district with a gain of 21.42 percent with 30.48 percent before the SPÖ and ÖVP , Helga Kügerl's entry into the Styrian state parliament was certain. She was sworn in as a member of the Styrian state parliament on June 16, 2015 . In the state parliament she wanted to stand up for the strengthening of rural areas and the creation of jobs and apprenticeships in the regions. She also wanted to get involved in women's and family politics. She was criticized for her racist statement in the Styrian state parliament, according to which she “wouldn't let a Yugoslav woman spoil our dirndl”.
In the state parliament, Kügerl was a member of the committees for health (health and care, science and research), the environment (environment, animal and nature protection) and economy (economy, innovation, tourism and culture). After the state elections in 2019 , she left the state parliament. On April 7, 2020 she moved to the XVIII. Legislative period for Gerhard Hirschmann as a member.
Private
Helga Kügerl is married and runs the "Schmuck" bed and breakfast in Glashütten .
