Maria Skazel

Maria Skazel (born September 2, 1969 in Eibiswald ) is an Austrian politician of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP). Since October 2013, it is Mayor in Sankt Peter in Sulmtal and since 17 December 2019 Member of the state parliament of Styria .

Life

After primary school in Sankt Peter im Sulmtal, Maria Skazel attended secondary school in Schwanberg and in 1983/84 the federal upper level secondary school (BORG) in Deutschlandsberg . She then learned the profession of office clerk, and completed her apprenticeship in 1988 with a final exam with distinction. In 1992 she passed the payroll accounting exam. From 1986 to 2000 she worked as an office clerk. Since September 2000, she has been a contract employee of the community of St. Peter im Sulmtal, responsible for the areas of wage accounting, bookkeeping, taxes / duties and, after completing the registrar's course in 2002, also a registrar. In 2003 she passed the administrative service examination, in 2017/18 she completed the university course in administrative management at Danube University Krems .

Skazel was a member of the local council in Sankt Peter im Sulmtal from 2010 , where she succeeded Alois Painsi as mayor in October 2013 . In Sankt Peter im Sulmtal she has been the local party leader of the ÖVP and local leader of the ÖVP women since 2014 . In the Deutschlandsberg district , she became the deputy district party chairman for the ÖVP in 2017 and was deputy district manager of the ÖVP women from 2016 to 2019. She has been a European councilor since 2011, and has been a member of the district board of the Austrian Workers' Union (ÖAAB) in the Deutschlandsberg district since 2019 .

In the 2019 state election , she ran for tenth place on the state list and as a top candidate in the Deutschlandsberg district. On December 17, 2019 she was at the beginning of the XVIII. Legislative term as Member of the Landtag Styria sworn in .
