ÖVP women

The ÖVP women are one of six “leagues” (sub-organizations) of the Austrian People's Party .

Tasks and organization

The women's organization of the ÖVP was founded in 1945 as the "Austrian Women's Association" and later renamed the "Austrian Women's Movement".

The federal government is organized in all Austrian federal states . The respective state chairmen belong to the federal management. General Secretary has been Janina Nolz since 2016. At the meeting of the ÖVP women's federal board on June 8, 2018, Juliane Bogner-Strauss was proposed as the new federal leader, the proposal was unanimously accepted. The election as federal head of the ÖVP women took place in the Bundestag on November 10, 2018. Since November 2018, the website of the ÖVP women, on which statutes and information on the federal government could be found, is offline, and through a website about the activities and demands has been replaced by Bogner-Strauss.

The ÖVP women see their task as “activating the political interest of women in Austria through political information and the opportunities for political participation and education offered by the ÖVP parent organization.” They represent the interests and political demands of ÖVP women in public and participate “in opinion-forming and decision-making processes in public and within the party”.

As a sub-organization of the ÖVP, the ÖVP women are committed to a Christian image of man and to an independent, democratic, constitutional and federal state of Austria.
