Dorothea Schittenhelm

Dorothea Schittenhelm (born May 7, 1954 in Strem ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). From 2007 to 2017 she was a member of the Austrian National Council .

education and profession

Dorothea Schittenhelm attended primary school in Strem from 1960 to 1964 and then secondary school in Güssing . In 1968 she switched to the polytechnic course in Güssing and then completed training as a dental assistant from 1969 to 1973.

From 1989 to 2000, Schittenhelm was regional director of the Lower Austrian women's movement.

politics

Dorothea Schittenhelm was a local councilor in Bisamberg between 1990 and 1995, and vice-mayor from 1995 to 2000 and mayor of the market town from 2000 to 2014. From 1996 to 2008 she was district party leader of the ÖVP Korneuburg and since 2000 regional leader of the Austrian women's movement in Lower Austria. From 1997 to 2007 she represented the ÖVP as a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament , and on February 1, 2007 she moved to the National Council after Werner Fasslabend resigned from his mandate.

On November 20, 2010, she was elected chairwoman of the ÖVP women in Innsbruck with 97.7 percentage points of the delegates' votes, succeeding Maria Rauch-Kallat in this function. At the meeting of the federal board of ÖVP women on June 8, 2018, Juliane Bogner-Strauss was proposed as the successor to Dorothea Schittenhelm as federal director, the proposal was unanimously accepted. The election as federal head of the ÖVP women took place in the Bundestag on November 10, 2018. Barbara Krenn succeeded her as the women’s spokesperson for the ÖVP .

Private

Schittenhelm is married to Raimund Schittenhelm and has two children.
