Barbara Wolfgang-Krenn

Barbara Wolfgang-Krenn , also Barbara Krenn (born December 19, 1969 in Bad Aussee ; † April 3, 2019 in Vienna ), was an Austrian entrepreneur and politician of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP). She was sworn in as a member of the National Council on November 9, 2017 .

Life

Among other things, she worked as an assistant manager at the Hotel Yachtclub Timmendorfer Strand . Her parents ran the Gasthaus Krenn in Pürgg , which she ran as an innkeeper from 1988 to 2016 . As an entrepreneur she rose in the Styrian Chamber of Commerce up to the professional group chairwoman of the Styrian landlords. At the same time, she got involved in the community, where she moved into the local council in 1995, took on the role of tourism manager in 1998 and was mayor of Pürgg-Trautenfels from 2007 to 2014 .

After an unsuccessful operation in 2014, she was paralyzed , so she lost all functions and sold the inn to Dietrich Mateschitz . She had already stood as a candidate for the ÖVP in the Austrian National Council election in 2013 .

In November 2018 she succeeded Dorothea Schittenhelm as the women’s spokeswoman for the ÖVP parliamentary club .

Barbara Wolfgang-Krenn died in April 2019 after years of cancer. Her national council mandate went to Karl Schmidhofer , followed by Juliane Bogner-Strauss as women's spokeswoman . She was buried in Stainach-Pürgg .
