Erwin Dirnberger (born July 17, 1957 ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ), part-time farmer. Dirnberger has been mayor since 1990 and a member of the Styrian state parliament since 1996 . Since 2007 he has been President of the Styrian Association of Municipalities .

Life

education and profession

Dirnberger attended elementary school in Sankt Johann ob Hohenburg (municipality of Sankt Johann-Köppling ) from 1963 to 1967 and then from 1967 to 1971 the secondary school in Krottendorf-Gaisfeld . He then completed the polytechnic course in the 1971/72 school year and the agricultural college in Stainz between 1972 and 1974. Dirnberger also completed a milking instructor course in Wolfpassing in 1980 and a farm adviser course in 1982, and is also a part-time farmer. From 1978 to 2006 he was a dairy employee. He performed his military service between 1990 and 1991 in the Kirchner barracks in Graz, and he was also on the border in Burgenland .

politics

Dirnberger began his political career from 1978 to 1983 as chairman of the Young People's Party in St. Johann-Köppling and in 1986 took over the role of local party chairman of the ÖVP. Since 1990 he has held the office of mayor of the municipality of Sankt Johann-Köppling and has been the mayor of the merged municipality of Söding-Sankt Johann since 2015 . In 1996 he was elected Voitsberg's ÖVP district party chairman. He has also represented the ÖVP in the state parliament since 1996 and is area spokesman for municipalities as well as for building and regional planning. Dirnberger sees his political focus in the areas of municipalities, rural areas and the Voitsberg region.
