Georg Schwarzl

Georg Schwarzl (born August 30, 1993 in Graz ) is an Austrian politician ( Die Grünen - Die Grüne Alternative ) from southern Styria ( Tillmitsch ). The budding doctor has been a member of the Styrian state parliament since December 17, 2019 .

Georg Schwarzl attended the HTBLA Kaindorf (department for mechatronics at the Arnfels location ) from which he graduated in 2012. Following his military service in Zeltweg , he started his studies at the Medical University of Graz in 2013 , which continues to this day.

During his time at the university, Georg Schwarzl was involved in various functions with the Austrian Medical Students 'Association (AMSA) and the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations (IFMSA).

As part of the “Don't smoke” referendum against non-smokers , he founded the “Smokefree Generation” initiative as part of the Austrian Medical Students' Association (AMSA) together with the Academic Association of Austrian Pharmacists (AFÖP). In March 2019 he was in the Health Committee of the Austrian Parliament to petition charged as an expert.

Political career

Schwarzl made his first experiences in politics in the student council of the HTBLA Kaindorf before he became part of the regional student council of Styria (LSV Steiermark) in the school year 2011/12. In the following years he first became part of the regional board of the Styrian Students' Union and then regional chairman in the 2013/14 school year.

Schwarzl has been active with the Greens since autumn 2018, during which time he co-founded the Green Youth in Styria. In the early state elections in 2019 , he ran on the state list and in the constituency of West Styria behind Sandra Krautwaschl , Lambert Schönleitner and Lara Köck in fourth place on the list.

For the XVIII. During the legislative period he is responsible for health, animal welfare, youth and digitization in the Green Parliamentary Club.
