Werner Murgg (born February 7, 1958 in Graz ) is a Styrian politician ( KPÖ ). He is a city councilor in Leoben and has been a member of the Styrian state parliament since 2005 .

Life

Murgg studied philosophy and history at the University of Graz and subsequently obtained his doctorate. In addition to his studies, he worked as a taxi driver and wrote for the KPÖ daily newspaper “Truth”. Murgg joined the KPÖ in 1988 "for ideological reasons", and in 1994 he moved to Leoben. He initially worked there as the district secretary of the KPÖ and was elected to the Leoben municipal council in 1995 . In 2005, after the KPÖ more than doubled its share of the vote to 10.5%, he was promoted to the non-executive city council. In addition, Murgg ran for second place in the KPÖ state election proposal for the 2005 state elections and was sworn in as a member of the Styrian state parliament on October 25, 2005.

In the municipal council elections in Leoben on March 21, 2010, Werner Murgg defended his position as councilor of the second largest city in Styria as the top candidate of the KPÖ, which reached 10.29 percent . In the Styrian state elections on September 26, 2010, Werner Murgg, who was second on the state list, again received a state parliament mandate and is now the smallest parliamentary group in the Styrian state parliament as the chairman of the control committee.
