BW

Premstätten is a market town in the Graz-Umgebung district in Styria ; in 2015 it was called Unterpremstätten-Zettling .

It emerged as part of the municipal structural reform in Styria from the formerly independent municipalities Unterpremstätten and Zettling . A complaint filed by the municipality of Zettling against the merger with the Constitutional Court was unsuccessful.
According to a municipal council resolution, the municipality has been renamed “Premstätten” since January 1st, 2016.

Economy and Infrastructure

safety

A police station (PI) has been set up in Premstätten, Hauptstrasse , which is subordinate to the Graz-Umgebung District Police Department. The PI is locally responsible for the municipal areas of Premstätten and Dobl-Zwaring .

Furthermore, the Autobahn Police Inspection (API) Graz West for the A2 and A9 motorways has its headquarters in Premstätten, Bäckweg, founded in 1974 as a service of the Autobahn gendarmerie .

tourism

At Schwarzlsee , which opened in 1984 as a bathing lake after gravel mining , the so-called Lake Festival with EDM music took place every summer from 2010-2017 , which attracted up to 120,000 visitors and for which bathing was interrupted for a few days. The floating stage, a pontoon, floating in the south of the lake near the shore, remained permanently installed. In 2018 and 2019 there was no more Lake Festival.

politics

mayor

The first mayor after the amalgamation of the municipalities, Anton Scherbinek (ÖVP), was elected by the municipal council on April 20, 2015 as part of the constituent meeting. Until then, government commissioner Günter Scherübl had been in charge of official business since January 1, 2015.

Municipal council

The municipal council consists of 25 members who, due to the municipal council election, are made up of mandataries from the following parties:

In September 2019 Ingrid Baumhackl closed her list and switched to the ÖVP.

The last municipal council elections brought the following results:

Political party 2015 2010 1)

1) The amalgamation of municipalities that has now taken place was reflected in the election results.
2) In the case of merged municipalities, the fictitious comparison vote shows the total number of votes from the original municipalities. Therefore, mandate comparisons are not possible.
