Petersdorf II was a municipality with 878 inhabitants until the end of 2014 (as of January 1, 2020) and was located in the district of Southeast Styria . As part of the municipal structural reform in Styria , it has been merged with the municipalities of Sankt Marein bei Graz and Krumegg (located in the Graz-Umgebung district ) since 2015 ; the new municipality is called Marktgemeinde Sankt Marein bei Graz. The basis for this is the Styrian Municipal Structural Reform Act - StGsrG. A complaint brought by the municipality against the amalgamation to the Constitutional Court was unsuccessful.
The boundaries of the Graz-Umgebung and Südoststeiermark districts have been changed so that the new municipality lies entirely in the Graz-Umgebung district. Likewise, with effect from January 1, 2015, the judicial districts were redefined in the “District Courts Ordinance Styria 2015” due to the changes in the framework of the municipal structural reform in Styria . Therefore, as of 2015, the municipality will be in the Graz-Ost judicial district .
Surname
Since there was still a Petersdorf in the same district (Feldbach, later Southeast Styria) (in the municipality of Fehring ), these municipalities of the same name, both of which had no addition, were numbered in order to be clear in the land register. A similar approach can also be found in the cadastral communities of Lödersdorf and Takern , which are, however, both in the same community.

politics
In the course of the structural reform of Styria 2010–2015 , Governor Franz Voves (SPÖ) and Deputy Governor Hermann Schützenhöfer (ÖVP) merged the community of Petersdorf II with the neighboring community of St. Marein / Graz as well as an associated change of district announced. In the subsequent Pickelbach negotiations between representatives of the state government and the two municipalities, it was decided to withdraw the merger announcement and a package of measures to save the municipality of St. Marein / Graz financially. This package of measures includes, among other things, the outsourcing of financial sovereignty to the neighboring municipality of Petersdorf II.
Municipal council
The municipal council consisted of nine members until the end of 2014 and, since the municipal council election in 2010, has consisted of mandates from the following parties:
