St. Margarethen an der Raab (official spelling) is a market town with 4110 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in Eastern Styria . The municipality covers an area of ​​43.02 km².

geography

Sankt Margarethen an der Raab is located in a wide Flachmuldental of the river Raab in the district of Weiz in the Austrian state of Styria . The highest point in the municipality is the Kleeberg ( 499  m above sea level ).

history

The church of Sankt Margarethen an der Raab was mentioned in 1267 as a branch church and in 1295 raised to parish church. A new building was built around 1510. The political community of St. Margarethen an der Raab was not established until 1850. In 2010 the community was raised to a market community .

Population development

Since 2001, both the birth balance and the migration balance have been positive.

Economy and Infrastructure

Many small and medium-sized commercial enterprises are based in the municipality.
