Franz Koelbl

Franz Kölbl (born January 29, 1876 in Kroisbach , † November 18, 1956 in Vorau ) was an Austrian politician and clergyman. He was a member of the Styrian Landtag for the Christian Social Party . From November 1920 to December 1933 he was President of the State Parliament.

Köbl was born the son of a farmer. After graduating from high school, he first studied theology and was ordained a priest in 1899 . In 1902 he was appointed chaplain and provisional in the communities of Kirchberg an der Raab , Sankt Georgen an der Stieffing , Premstätten , Tobelbad and Halbenrain . From 1912 to 1929 Köbl was pastor of the parish in Halbenrain. Until his retirement in 1955 he was district dean and pastor in Hartberg. Körbl was appointed papal honorary chaplain in 1933 and thus received the honorary title of monsignor . Kölbl was appointed consistorial councilor by the bishop in 1936 and an honorary canon in 1944 .
