Gutenberg-Stenzengreith has been a municipality in the Weiz district in Styria since 2015 . It emerged as part of the municipal structural reform in Styria from the municipalities of Gutenberg an der Raabklamm and Stenzengreith, which were dissolved at the end of 2014 .

history

The community was created on January 1, 2015 from the merger of the former communities of Gutenberg an der Raabklamm and Stenzengreith. Stockheim, which belongs to the former municipality of Stenzengreith, is one of the earliest Bavarian settlements in the area. Stenzengreith and Plenzengreith are clearing areas.

On January 1, 2020, the cadastral community of Plenzengreith will be separated from the community and incorporated into the neighboring community of Passail .

On April 27, 2015, Vinzenz Mautner (SPÖ) was elected mayor at the constituent meeting of the municipal councils. Mautner was able to prevail in the vote against the former mayor of Gutenberg and interim government commissioner Thomas Wild with 7: 8 votes.

Thomas Wild had to be content with the deputy mayor and, like the community treasurer Erwin Neubauer (ÖVP), belongs to the community board.

The municipal council consists of 15 members and is composed as follows based on the result of the 2015 municipal council election :

  • 7 mandataries of the ÖVP
  • 5 SPÖ mandataries
  • 2 Green mandataries
  • 1 mandate from the FPÖ

Coat of arms of the former municipality of Stenzengreith

The municipal coat of arms was awarded with effect from August 1, 1984 to the then municipality of Gutenberg an der Raabklamm. Due to the amalgamation of municipalities, the coat of arms temporarily lost its official validity on January 1st, 2015. The new award took place on February 15, 2016.
The blazon (description of the coat of arms) reads:

" A black whiskers in an ermine ."
