Community structure

The municipality of Michaelerberg-Pruggern emerged as part of the municipal structural reform in Styria from the municipalities of Michaelerberg and Pruggern, which were dissolved at the end of 2014 .

The municipal area comprises the following two cadastral communities and towns of the same name (population in brackets as of January 1, 2020):

  • Michaelerberg (418) including Moosheim and Tunzendorf
  • Pruggern (739) including Einöd, Kulm, Kunagrünberg, Pruggererberg, Schlatenbach and Vorderes Sattental

The community belongs to the judicial district of Schladming .

On June 13, 2019, the municipal council of Michaelerberg-Pruggern was the first municipality in Austria to unanimously decide to declare a climate emergency.

On Good Friday, April 10, 2020, there was a rock fall in the alpine terrain in the area of ​​the Sattentalbach. The footpath there was officially closed.
