The sparse remains of the Magdala moated castle , also called Madela , are in the rural town of Magdala (behind the market) in the Weimarer Land district in Thuringia .

history

The construction of the moated castle by the Counts of Orlamünde happened very early in order to have a protection to the east entrance for Weimar .

Today's initiatives

In 1900, with the personal commitment of leading people from the city, the clearing of rubbish from the area began in order to be able to expose the remains of the wall. They were professionally secured and technically processed for the future. One also intends to redesign rooms.

The ruin is listed as an architectural monument in the list of cultural monuments in Magdala .
