Johann Michael Köhler (born January 19, 1956 in Halle (Saale) ) is a German chemist .

Life

Michael Köhler comes from a family of chemists and grew up in Halle. After the compulsory military service with the border troops of the GDR , he began studying chemistry at the University of Halle in 1976 and moved to the Friedrich Schiller University Jena in 1979 , where he graduated as a chemist in 1981 and, after completing his doctorate in 1986 , was habilitated at PTI Jena in 1992 .

In 2001 Michael Köhler was appointed to the chair for physical chemistry and microreaction technology at the Technical University of Ilmenau , which he has held since then. Together with colleagues, he published numerous specialist articles on microreaction technology, miniaturized biotechnology , microsystem technology and the synthesis of nanoparticles .

Private

Michael Köhler is a volunteer conservationist and author of several books on regional history .
