coat of arms
- Coats of arms of the previous municipalities
All previous municipalities had a municipal coat of arms. The first municipal coat of arms for Irdning was awarded with effect from December 1, 1960, the description of the coat of arms read:
- "In the silver shield there is a blue diagonal bar, at the top left by a falcon falling down obliquely to the left, accompanied at the bottom right by a blue crenellated wall that forms a pinnacle wall, which merges into a five-pinned tower with a perforated gate and window near the front head of the shield."
Due to the amalgamation of the municipalities, the coats of arms of the old municipalities lost their official validity on January 1st, 2015. The new award of the coat of arms for the merged community took place with effect from March 28, 2019.
The changed blazon (description of the coat of arms) reads:
- "In silver under the red cloud-shield head, a blue under-half lily decorated with a cross removed from this falling red lightning bolt, in the shield base a narrowed blue wavy bar."
The clouds in the head of the shield with the two flashes of tongue and the blue wavy bar are intended to indicate the place name Irdning; the cross on the lily indicates the importance of Irdning as the mother parish of the central Ennstal; the flashes of tongue that form a bracket around the crossed lily can be interpreted as a sign of the impending force of nature, but they can also be interpreted as flashes of inspiration for sparkling ideas in education and research.
