Capuchin monastery Irdning
The Capuchin Monastery Irdning is a Capuchin monastery in the village of Falkenburg in the market town of Irdning-Donnersbachtal in Styria.
monastery
The monastery is on a small hill. In 1615 the Praunfalk built a Falkenburg hunting lodge, which gave the place its name. With Siegmund Freiherr von Welsersheimb, the building was converted into a Capuchin monastery in 1711. The gate wing of the former castle has been preserved. The monastery is a simple two-storey building with a courtyard with arcades.
A figure of Mary with Child in the refectory is from the end of the 15th century. There is a picture of the founder Welsersheimb. There is a picture of the Last Supper by Johann Lederwasch from 1780.
From 1998 to 1999 the monastery was structurally renovated with architect Sergio Molina from Öblarn and a renovation and extension was carried out.
Monastery church hl. Joseph
In the west of the monastery, the south-facing monastery church marked with the year 1711 was built and was consecrated in 1718. The church was restored in 1777 after a fire. The nave and the drawn-in just closing choir are vaulted with a stitch cap . To the east of the choir is a prayer choir. The gallery in the north is made of wood. Two groin-vaulted chapels are added to the east of the nave . The roof turret stands over the prayer choir.
The high altar was rebuilt at the end of the 19th century. The altarpiece of St. Anna with Child by Philipp Carl Laubmann is from 1778. The former large high altarpiece of the Holy Family by Johann Veit Hauck from 1712 is in a chapel. The baroque side altars are simply designed. In the prayer choir there are four large paintings with religious saints from the beginning of the 18th century. The vestry cupboard is from 1598.
