Dehio Steiermark (excluding Graz) 1982

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dehio-Handbuch - Die Kunstdenkmäler Österreichs - Steiermark (excluding Graz) was published in 1982 as the fifth volume in the new Austrian Dehio series started by the Federal Monuments Office in 1976 . 1979 went Dehio Graz for Styria advance.

General

The manual lists monuments within the meaning of Section 1 of the Monument Protection Act, i.e. immovable and movable objects of historical, artistic and other cultural significance regardless of whether there is a public interest in their preservation. On the one hand, the Dehio is a tool for monument research, on the other hand it is an art guide, as it should also spread an appreciation for art and cultural monuments.

Based on his experiences with the revision of the Dehio Oberösterreich in 1964, Kurt Woisetschläger compiled new guidelines for the creation of Dehios and in 1971, together with Peter Krenn, proposed a revision of the Dehio Steiermark 1956 . The offer was gladly accepted by the then director of the Institute for Monument Research, Eva Frodl-Kraft . Because Woisetschläger, as head of the Alte Galerie at the Landesmuseum Joanneum in Graz, had been systematically documenting Styrian art monuments for years and, like Peter Krenn as head of the Landeszeughaus at the same museum, had already written numerous publications on art monuments.
