Dehio Salzburg 1986

The Dehio-Handbuch - Die Kunstdenkmäler Österreichs - Salzburg - Stadt und Land was published in 1986 as the 7th volume of a new Austrian series of the Dehio-Handbuch, started in 1974 by the Federal Monuments Office .

The manual lists monuments within the meaning of Section 1 of the Monument Protection Act, i.e. immovable and movable objects of historical, artistic and other cultural significance regardless of whether there is a public interest in their preservation. On the one hand, the Dehio is an aid to monuments research, on the other hand, an art guide, as it should also spread the appreciation for art and cultural monuments.

The volume Salzburg of the old Dehio series from 1963 comprised 135 pages, the present volume 740 pages. Concepts began in 1978 under Eva Frodl-Kraft , then the printing of Dehio Steiermark (excluding Graz) in 1982 and Dehio Vorarlberg in 1983 were brought forward. The death of Wolfgang Steinnitz also delayed the processing to the city of Salzburg, which delayed the publication. There were two art historical authors: Roswitha Juffinger worked on the Pinzgau , Tennengau , parts of the Flachgau and the Nonnberg monastery and the Kapuzinerberg on the city of Salzburg . And Ronald Gobiet , in addition to his work at the State Conservatory, for Lungau and Pongau . Furthermore: Horst Richard Huber worked on the city of Salzburg. Bernd Euler worked on parts of the Flachgau. Walter Schlegel , state curator, worked on castles, mansions, permanent places and barriers, as well as technical and economic historical monuments.

New inventory concepts had to be developed for rural architecture and the settlement structure, which was ultimately managed with seven authors: Rotraut Acker-Sutter worked on parts of the Flachgau, Elfriede Lukas den Pongau, Harald Starke den Tennengau, parts of the Flachgau and the rural architecture in the City of Salzburg. Michael Martischnig worked on parts of the Lungau. Furthermore, from earlier Dehio companies: Hans Gschnitzer for parts of the Pinzgau, Herlinde Menardi for other parts of the Pinzgau, both from the Tyrolean Folk Art Museum . Kurt Conrad , from the Salzburg open-air museum , prepared the introductory chapter on rural architecture.
