Norbert Heger

Norbert Heger (born October 10, 1939 in Zwittau , Sudetenland ) is an Austrian provincial Roman archaeologist .

Norbert Heger in 1971 at the University of Salzburg Dr. phil. did his doctorate and then worked as an assistant at the local Institute for Ancient History and Classical Studies. In 1978 he qualified as a professor for Ancient History and Provincial Research. He was later made an associate professor. In 2005 he retired.

Heger's research focus is the history of Roman settlements in Austria, particularly in Salzburg ( Iuvavum ). He wrote numerous works, including monographs, essays and catalog articles. In addition, he edited two volumes of the Corpus Signorum Imperii Romani (CSIR) on behalf of the Austrian Academy of Sciences , which included the Roman settlements Ivavum, Aguntum (near Lienz ) and Brigantium ( Bregenz ).

On the occasion of his 75th birthday, he received the commemorative publication "A powerful Halali from Roman times!", Ed. v. F. Lang, S. Traxler, EM Ruprechtsberger, W. Wohlmayr, Archaeoplus Vol. 7 (Salzburg 2014).
